You need to get used to it. I nearly spun the first time I drove on snow. ABS kicked in and I slid wide and got a bit sideways.

It may be frowned upon by the law, but find a large empty lot and go spinning around. It will do more than put a shit grin on your face. You will quickly learn a lot about how the car will handle in low traction environments. Go ahead and do things the right way, the wrong way, lock the brakes, when abs kicks in, brake mid turn, etc.
Just be smart and deliberate, make sure the parking lot is empty and beware of hidden curbs. And go slow. Its easy to try and do to much in the snow.
It takes experience and patience. Everone is bad driver at first, and most people stay that way.
